Triple Clamp
Forged Aluminum Motorcycle Upper Triple Clamp (Bar Mount): Top Clamp with Integrated Handlebar Mounts
This forged aluminum motorcycle upper triple clamp with bar mounts is the top crown of a fork. It has a flat plate body with fork-tube bores at both ends and handlebar mount bosses on either side of center, to which handlebar clamps or risers bolt directly. Integrating the bar mounts reduces part count and stabilizes handlebar position.
The top clamp carries loads from both fork and handlebar, so the junction between bar-mount bosses and body needs continuous grain flow. Al Forge Tech (AFT) closed-die hot forges the body, fork bores and bar-mount bosses in one operation, then CNC-machines the fork bores, steerer bore and bar-mount threads after heat treatment and verifies their relative positions on CMM.
Key Features
- Fork bores and handlebar mount bosses integrated in the top clamp
- Flat plate body for handlebar clamps or risers
- Multi-hole CNC machining and CMM measurement
- Anodized or shot-blasted finish

Forged Aluminum Motorcycle Upper Triple Clamp (Bar Mount) Manufacturing Process
- Drawing review and DFM: we confirm alloy, load direction and critical dimensions, then run QForm simulation to predict metal flow and defect risk.
- Die design and manufacturing: the number of die sets (for example, blocker and finisher dies) is planned around part complexity, and die contours are checked with a portable 3D scanner.
- Hot forging: closed-die forming on 600T–8,000T hot forging presses creates a continuous grain flow that follows the part contour.
- Heat treatment: T4 solution treatment and T6 artificial aging are performed in-house, with parameters set by alloy and strength requirement.
- CNC machining and finishing: holes, threads and mating surfaces are machined, followed by deburring, vibratory finishing, shot blasting or anodizing as required.
- Inspection and shipment: dimensions, hardness and chemical composition are verified with CMM, hardness testers and a spectrometer, with lot traceability kept under IATF 16949.
FAQ
What are the benefits of integrating bar mounts into the top clamp?
An integrated design lets the handlebar clamps or risers bolt straight to the top clamp, removing separate mount parts and interfaces. Fewer parts give a more stable bar position and less tolerance stack-up from multiple fastened joints. AFT forges the bar-mount bosses in one operation so grain flow is continuous between bosses and body.
How is the accuracy of the bar-mount thread positions ensured?
The position of the bar-mount threads affects handlebar symmetry and angle after assembly. After heat treatment, AFT machines fork bores, steerer bore and bar-mount threads in one CNC setup so all share a datum, then measures hole spacing and symmetry on Zeiss CMM.
Can you assess forging feasibility while the Forged Aluminum Motorcycle Upper Triple Clamp (Bar Mount) is still in design?
Yes. Al Forge Tech works mainly as an OEM supplier, and our engineers can give design-for-manufacturability (DFM) feedback at the concept or drawing stage, such as adjusting thin ribs, abrupt section changes or draft angles to avoid laps and underfill. QForm simulation predicts metal flow early, and the results are cross-checked against our die design experience.
Can the Forged Aluminum Motorcycle Upper Triple Clamp (Bar Mount) be anodized or given other surface finishes?
Yes. Al Forge Tech offers anodizing (including hard anodizing), shot blasting, vibratory finishing, e-coating and painting, plus pickling and ultrasonic washing lines to clean parts after machining. Please note the finish type and film thickness on the drawing so machining allowances and cosmetic standards for the Forged Aluminum Motorcycle Upper Triple Clamp (Bar Mount) can be evaluated together.
Can Al Forge Tech supply the Forged Aluminum Motorcycle Upper Triple Clamp (Bar Mount) from forging through machining?
Yes. Forging, heat treatment, CNC machining, surface finishing and inspection are integrated in one facility: 52 CNC machining centers (40 four-axis and 12 4.5-axis), 30 lathes (14 with robotic loading), plus broaching, burnishing and centerless grinding. The Forged Aluminum Motorcycle Upper Triple Clamp (Bar Mount) can be delivered as a forged blank, semi-finished or fully machined part.
